These letters are cup sizes and mean how big around the breasts are. So, what do bra sizes mean? For further explanation, the band measure, the number, indicates how far out they come from the body, when measured around with a measuring tape. The number can be tricky, because a large framed woman may have an impressive sounding measurement of 38, but it could mean that she just carries extra weight. She may have small breasts but a big measurement.

A thinner woman with a 38 measure would be very large indeed.
